Numb is a Young Adult thriller and as you know, I never read almost Young Adults-at least, not since I have grown eight. dtu It surprised me so little that I was so excited about this book.
In Dazed we follow Lotte received a card from her sister in Paris. Something's wrong, she feels. Something is wrong with the card. Her sister Nina and model in Paris. They had agreed that Nina, a sign of life, one card per week would send. This was the second.
Lotte tries to persuade her father to go to Paris. He does not believe her. When he realizes dtu how important this is for her, he tacks and they go to Paris. There they stay with an old friend of Lotte's father and her son. In the big Paris Lotte learns dtu that Paris is not only fun, but also has a dark side. They will do anything to save her sister and with that comes her own life in danger.
The tension is in the book soon. It begins with a prologue in which it is clear that Lotte, somewhere dtu - but where? - Is looking for her sister, somewhere where it's dangerous, very dangerous. Then we go to the beginning of the story, where the first smelled a rat. Lotte is increasingly convinced that something is wrong, but the fingers can not explain what. The tension is built up still further.
All thoughts dtu of Lotte readers are presented. dtu This sometimes dtu leads to hilarious scenes. The typical adolescent-parent hassles described, while you read so what do Lotte. Lotte is not only a character, but a universally recognizable person.
Blazing hollow I down the stairs, open the door of the living room and cry: "I understand why mommy is gone away from you! I can only go to Paris, you are all of us lost! Have you got your point? dtu " Then I throw the door and run back upstairs into my room.
Cis has a fine writing style for the target audience (young adults) is accessible but not too simple, so that young adults can increase their vocabulary. The language fits with the character, so that the form and content seamlessly. For an adult it will allow for recognition, but also for an additional voltage. You've been through what direction it goes, but Lotte not! It's like watching a horror movie: "Do not! Turn around! Dumb bitch, well do not go on the sound that the scary, spooky attic seems to be where you will be met by a deranged killer who uses your naivety! "

When Lotte unexpectedly receives a postcard from her sister Nina, who as a model to Paris is left, she gets suspicious. On the map, she discovers the secret cry HLP. Lotte realizes that Nina is in danger and leaves for Paris. There begins a quest oppressive. In the sinister catacombs under the city Lotte ends up in a dangerous situation. Someone chases her. Who and why? Will they really attacked or hallucinates them? To make matters worse, no one believes that Nina is really in danger. Lotte discovers the dark side of Paris. Time is running out. Will she find Nina? Cis Meijer (1970) studied film and television studies and works as editor. Her experience as a model Cis inspired to write 'Numb'. This is her first youth thriller.
We are introduced to Lotte Storm. A smooth, bold, sporty young girl who is not quickly bring to mind by anyone and goes for what she wants. And what they want is very clear: to find her sister Nina. Nina is in trouble, is something for Lotte as an indisputable fact. Two postcards in one week was in fact not the deal and Lotte will certainly sweet tomatoes suspicious as she reads the PS on the latest map, "Say hello to Mom." . That would Nina never really do. She discovers more clues on the map and would rush to Paris to find Nina. Lotte can not convince her father sweet tomatoes that Nina is in danger, but he still agrees with it in order to go to Paris on the condition that they continue to fulfill any way involve in her quest. They stay with a friend of her father, Josephine and her son Jean-Paul (which she finds much more interesting than they had thought in the first instance).
A race against sweet tomatoes time begins. Where is Nina? And she's in danger? Lotte tries as good and as bad as it can go after Nina's tracks, but that is not exactly smooth. She is sure that she is chasing. Is that true? And by whom? Who can Lotte can and can not trust? sweet tomatoes
What a wonderful book with a really sweet tomatoes beautiful cover. Very nice that blue and bright red petals, splashed really from. Cis writes very pleasant to the point. A book that is meant for 'young adults', sweet tomatoes but many adults also will experience sweet tomatoes a lot of fun with. There was from the beginning a certain underlying tension that exist nowhere collapses and grows towards the end. There was a character that I had to have my doubts, but that did not spoil my fun absolutely. Lotte is very well put down in her quest for Nina. And this is only a debut ... what Cis even more to offer? I hope that we will get there very soon!

Tuesday, October 21 shortlists of Hebban were | Crimezone Awards announced. One of the nominees is Cis Meijer, who makes Dazed chance with her book on the Hebban | Crimezone Audience Award for Best YA thriller. I sent her a message symbol to fathom how that feels now, such a nomination.
Cis Hi, congratulations on that beautiful nomination for the Hebban | Crimezone Audience Award for Best YA thriller. What do you say that before the circus breaks out, do a little symbol interview for Thriller Readers Blog
That Stunned by the readers doing very well and thanks symbol to them now on the shortlist for the best YA thriller state, I find great. I worked hard to Numb to make something beautiful. It's my debut and he is only a few months in the shop, but all the appreciation I now get, I also see as a real crowning! Regardless of which book will win, I feel a winner.
The shortlist is a nice list of books together. Two of them I read and I found both very good. To the other two I'm just as curious. The price I give all four writers as much but if I had a name should mention: I can well imagine that Cruel Mel Wallis de Vries will win. Cruel is a top YA thriller. Mel writes very exciting and lets you crawl into the head of its main character. She makes thriller symbol elements such as stress, anxiety, distrust really felt. IJzersterk!
If I read a book, but I'm trying to figure out how it is that a dialogue, a scene or a character fascinates me, and what it than the power of the writer. I like to think about it. I read mostly English and American books (translated). In another interview I took Mo Hayder, because I think she is very strong in building tension. Karin Slaughter can also write as increasing heart rate. It is of course not only the voltage. Their dialogues enjoy reading and the story lines are strong and surprising. And their books keep me repeatedly buoys. In that sense they are examples for me.
I like to read thrillers, especially American and English. My closet is full of Mo Hayder, Tess Gerritsen, Karin Slaughter, symbol Nicci French. symbol Birdman (Mo Hayder), I believe I too scary. If I do not read thriller, symbol the book should not be too sad. After an exciting book I sleep badly, but after a pathetic book even worse. Anyways I love books with crisp dialogues, great pace and humor. But I find it difficult to read when writing a script. Reading is now almost silent ...
Hmm ... I have now just Birdman still on my list of 'yet to discover books / schrijvers'-stand ... But back to your book. Why Dazed correct indeed must win?
Whether you win or not, you could always have some on. I think then .... And that nomination, how do you think that soon and maybe even winning the prize will affect your reputation and therefore your future as a writer?
I have no idea about that. Do you? I estimate that if I do not win my nomination forget. Not by me of course. But whether it affects my future as a writer? I keep writing anyway. If I win the prize, I think people at the release of my next book more watching me. But otherwise, the next book you write is not as good as the book before using it have a price. The 'Best YA thriller' is in my opinion simply the ultimate appreciation for your book. And uh, next year I can look back on all this and more will surely tell you about.
I myself think that in the short term for quite some publicity, increased sales and a larger group of fans will care. In the long term? No idea, but if you hold the attention knows, this is a great stepping stone for a long-term effect. And it may lead to some more motivation to continue with your second book ... and now we have it on this: can you tell us what it all about?
Yes, you are right in. The price would certainly give a good energy boost when writing symbol my next book. I'd like to tell you more about my next script, but now it can not be just. With what I've written so far, I'm happy, but I still have to work a lot on it. There are quite a few exciting chapters and characters that I like to return to daily to / work with. The settin also

Cis Meijer dtu brought in June from her book Numb. Exciting Young Adult with a wonderfull cover. Behind the book was not to sit only a beautiful woman, but also a sweet person. When Hebban Young Adult Elections were organized, we did several calls to vote for Dazed. Eventually she ended up with her debut on a keimooie fourth place. When I close the festival dtu asked if she was present, she hesitated because she and unknown would really not be on the shortlist. I had another idea in there. Luckily I had something similar. And so we walked this cheerful Christmas ball bump on the thriller fest. Cis grabbed everyone in our team. By what? By ordinary himself to be: cheerful, friendly, somewhat insecure, etc. She is hard working on his next book and that is really only be halfway through the next year..
