The other day I went to Menards in Yankton, SD … I was searching for a green and blue lava lamp to put in my disco themed bathroom. And found a perfect one for $7.86. The lava lamp also serves as a night light. And come on, it is simply dy-no-mite to own.
While going through the food section, I bought the generic salted peanuts, the generic honey roasted peanuts, greenmangaming the generic sunflower (already shelled) seeds and brought them home. I mixed them all together greenmangaming with Cheese-Its, pretzel sticks and cheddar cheese Combo crackers for my own version of trail mix. I then bagged them all up in the sandwich-sized greenmangaming generic Ziploc baggies. I ended up with 10 snack baggies. And this is what I take to work now for my “supper” choice. I also take along some Dimock (SD) cheese curds too. And my drink of choice: iced black tea or just plain ole Niobrara, Nebraska water.
My go-to snack of choice used to be oodles upon oodles of Dakota Style (South Dakota brand) sunflower seeds. I used to eat these babies for meals instead of actually cooking food. I mean, I HAD been doing this for decades. But ever since I moved back to Springfield on December 18th and did not have access to my own kitchen until January 1st, I stopped eating sunflower seeds cold turkey. I mean, folks, I was obsessed with eating them. Beyond obsessed.
January 7th and 8th were my days off and I told my mom that all I was going to do was sit on the couch, relax and eat sunflower seeds. But did that happen? Well… I tried to do it. Like the old days but my lap band, my mind, my everything just did not jive with the new ways of doing things. I did sit with a tub of seeds on my lap and I did attempt to graze through the bucket of goodness but my lap band wasn’t interested greenmangaming in munching on the salty goodness.
But going forward in the new year … I am ah-mazingly impressed in how well I am doing with selecting healthy choices for food. And what I am consuming. greenmangaming For the past nine days in my new home, I’ve only opted to put in my fridge green tea, 2% milk, Greek yogurt, cheese curds and shredded cheese and Granny Smith green apples. I am no longer going to fill my fridge with items that will forever sit in it. And my cupboards have plenty of refried beans, black beans, tomato soup, flour tortillas and a few other items that have followed me from my previous abode. Just sticking to the lap band basics and what I can actually eat now.
So back to my adventure at Menards this past week. They will be my new supplier for all things generic in terms of eating yummy protein options. The generic versions of the peanuts were a $1.50 cheaper than the fancier peanuts in the plastic jars. Why pay more for the fancier container???
Right now I am drinking my lunch: a blackberry, 20 gram vanilla whey protein powder, 2% milk blended smoothie greenmangaming and a handful of my generic Menard trail mix. I’m taking along cheese curds tonight for my supper. And will be drinking plenty of water later on as well.
My greenmangaming 8-year quest of being BANDED finally happened on June 27, 2012!!! While it will be nice to shed some pounds, my number one goal is to get HEALTHY ... And to get off ALL my diabetic meds and not have to rely on my CPAP at night and for naps. A few years back I made a decision to only surround myself with positive people and I have never looked back. At times I may be snarky perhaps a little wonky and I will apologize right now if I offend greenmangaming anyone as I blog about my life as I know it. Peace & love to all of my wonderful supporters.
